good morning everybody, i am allison janney. >> and i in britt moreno. >> the commuter trains a and b are down. >> cbs4's jamie leary live at union station where passengers >> reporter: we have station guards directing traffic all of the way to the other side. rtd has 30 buses prepared to take people to their destinations but they have experienced dozens of delays and service interruptions since it actually started in april.

we are told the server is actually down at the operation center. what that means is employees cannot see any train routes so these delays are expected to lasted for quite some time. we know the b line will start around 5:45 but rtd advices you plan for extra time will take these buses and while so make sure you come to 17th if you wanted to catch the bus. we will continue to keep an eye on the situation. jamie leary, cbs4 morning news. >> thank you very much for keeping us up-to-date this morning and now weather. >> here is ashton. as expected, we have some

the colorado high country. we have some particular station -- precipitation this morning getting into the higher mountains east it turns into slow along i-80 70 with rain and snow falling and right now specifically summit county we have a lot of snow with breckenridge and silverthorne. right now for the denver metro area we are dry for the time being. i think we will at least a shower or two. but not much going today for a friend range with temperatures right now 60 degrees. the cold front is responsible for this rain and snow. we will talk about that right now let's check the traffic with joel. look at these cameras we have from our cdot camera. look

sunday night is cause for concern the broncos are saying they do not expect any long- term effects. >> coach kubiak is taking the rest of the week off to recuperate and we understand he will be back to work on monday. >> reporter: shortly after sunday's game against the atlantic fountains the atlanta falcons coach gary kubiak was taken to the hospital complex migraine. >> it is a migraine headache that most people know about. but it can be associated with focal neurologic symptoms. >> reporter: initially he was said to have flu-like symptoms. sharon at the university of colorado said is not uncommon but more often symptoms of migraines resembled more serious conditions like .

>> it can be numbness or weakness and sometimes with trouble talking. >> reporter: something kubiak has experienced before in 2013 working as head coach of the houston texans he collapsed while walking off the field at halftime during a game against the colts. he did undergo a number of precautionary tests sunday night in the hospital. >> often because the symptoms look a like we get scans of the head and maybe look at the blood vessels to make sure people are looking better. >> that was karen morfitt reporting. what triggers these migraines? doctors hope to pin these down. we will have much more reaction

the a line in the line trains are down. the jamie leary has an update. >> reporter: we have some good news. the a line seems to be up and running. rtd officials hope to have this departing around 5:45. it sounds like rtd was being proactive. they did expect this outage to last through the afternoon but look like they are up and in airport just putting in at this point in time. they did have 30 buses ready to go for the delays. we will continue to keep an eye on this one looks at you want to plan for extra time. you can take the a line to the airport. they did give me the crossed finger cymbal when i asked if this was good to go so it is

trying to get people to show up and understand the situation. this collection of apartments is supposed to offer each person 350 square feet h. while some say this is a way to take on the housing shortage, this group is opposed because they want to support or responsible options that would also allow for housing developments do not put a burden on those already so in addition to this hearing, there is a petition online. the group has a special website asking for signatures to stop the project. you can contact the developer and it is unclear how they plan to respond. there is a hearing today and neighbors in the area plan to speak about concerns at 11 a.m. at 11 a.m. shawn chitnis, cbs4 morning

welcome back. we are taking a look right now at the satellite and the radar together. we have quite a bit of activity going on across colorado this morning as a cold front approaches the area.

showing up along the western slope of colorado. we will zoom in first on the san juan mountains with the rain and the snow coming down to the south and southeast of telluride. as you make your way up through gunnison there is rain and snow and right over toward salina quite a bit of moisture this morning. summit county probably getting more precipitation at this point than anybody else with rain and snow this is along the johnson tunnels. north park is covered with rain and it is rain and snow making your way up ralliers pass this morning. -- rain years pass but i don't think we will see much in terms of rain here and really at all today. if we do see rain it wouldn't be until this afternoon. at this point we do not anticipate much. here is the futurecast from 7

you can see the surge of participant -- precipitation we are expecting. here on the front range maybe you will get a shower or two this evening. at this point i am not convinced we will see much. this is low clouds that could cause drizzle tomorrow morning and then clearing out why tomorrow noon. temperatures are mild from boulder and collins with 60 here. holder on th on the planes with temperatures in the high country above freezing. that is why it is not all snow. high temperatures later today will be in the 50s and along the front range it will not be as hot as yesterday with 79 but it will still be far above normal. then we dropped down to 55 tomorrow and thursday back up to 72 with a beautiful weekend

into the mid-upper 70s. right now let's get a check on the traffic. here is joel. >> take a look at the high country along vail. these trucks are getting chained up and this is why. on the johnson mountain tunnels it is a winter wonderland. look at that making for a miserable commute to e at a vail pass it is a little better but they are issuing slick road conditions with traction restrictions in place of over loveland pass. there will be a portion of 285 affected as you make your way out. you can get some pretty good steam going and conditions can change quickly. look at all of the screen we

with a nice wide open drive. >> the widow of a denver firefighter has lost tens and thousands of dollars. a surviving spouse is supposed to get the pension tax-free. she called on brian maass to get something done. >> reporter: charlie was a denver firefighter for 30 years. in 2001 >> i remember every moment of that day i could was yesterday. >> reporter: he went to the home of a fellow firefighter to counsel through a tough time. the other firefighter shot and killed him and then killed himself. >> thank you, dad. >> reporter: it was ruled a line of duty to meeting his widow should receive his pension tax-free. theoretically the board was

in association that it was a line of duty death insuring the pension tax-free but they say that never happened. >> what notification did they give you at the time? >> they did not give us any notification. >> reporter: so julie drennan's payments were taxed. >> it meant 1000 difference a month. >> reporter: when she discovered the error in 2014 city attorney emailed her. i've not clear why at this time this information was not communicated. today we send confirmation that he was on duty when he died. >> who screwed up here? >> i think you can draw this

>> the city does play a role but we don't know because this happened 15 years ago. >> reporter: the spokesperson amber miller said they are investigating. she pointed out when charlie drennan died the city sent the pension association his death certificate which said he was killed at work. >> do you guys think she should be made whole? >> yes. and that is are at the table with her. this is something we want to help her with. >> reporter: as the agencies point fingers, julie drennan is caught in the middle trying to get someone to step up. >> i think he would be disappointed in the way it was handled. he would want his family to receive the benefit for the pension he earned. >> that was brian maass reporting. we will follow up. they also have a son.
